MY Mission

In my work with clients, I want to help empower individuals to better manage mental health concerns that get in the way of that person finding their best self.  Most importantly, I want you to feel that you are not alone in whatever concern currently bothers you.

WHY I WANT TO HELP

Simply put, I want to help you discover improvements in your life. I genuinely care about all of my clients and I share in their successes and moments of pride and likewise, I want to be there for you in moments of pain and disappointment. I stand by my work and I take great pride in the supportive services that I offer.

HOW ARE THERAPY SERVICES WITH ME EFFECTIVE?

  • We have the opportunity to quickly form a bond and establish trust in the therapeutic relationship. The importance of this cannot be minimized! I frequently check-in on your comfort with me, your general comfort in sessions, and your comfort in talking about your presenting issues.

  • I am upfront and transparent with you about my expertise, skills, and also my limitations.

  • I tailor the therapy experience to your specific needs and your worldview, while checking-in to make sure we make modifications to how we work together as you need it.

  • I am gentle, caring, and compassionate but I can also be firm, direct, and call out behaviors that appear to be disruptive in your life (especially as we have the opportunity to gradually know each other better). I take your trust in me very seriously and I intend to use that trust to empower you and also keep you accountable for the changes you are seeking in your life.

  • We together discover ways to help alleviate the effects of the most immediate sources of stress in your life.

  • We together identify the most problematic symptoms and behaviors that are disrupting your current quality of life.

  • We balance together the ability to work on current functioning and current problems while also examining the root sources of problems/challenges in your life that may go further back to earlier parts of your life.

  • We are engaged in a dynamic process together in therapy, I believe the most effective therapy relationships are collaborative and an experience where the client feels like it is a conversation.

  • I draw upon research-proven, effective therapeutic techniques, and therapeutic approaches that can create change and growth in people’s lives - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-based approach, Positive Psychology, Humanistic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Additionally, I use mindfulness techniques, biofeedback techniques, and psychoeducation as therapy tools as well.
